However, by default, many systems are configured to disable hardware-assisted virtualization at boot. If the CPU supports hardware-assisted virtualization (Intel VT-x), then we can use hardware-assisted virtualization as an alternative to binary translation. On Intel hardware, a 64-bit CPU is not sufficient to run 64-bit guests, because Intel's 64-bit implementation doesn't support the segment limits that we use to protect the hypervisor from the guest when using binary translation. (4) Update the host's BIOS/firmware to the latest version. (3) Power-cycle the host if you have not done so since installing VMware Workstation. (1) Verify that the BIOS/firmware settings enable Intel VT-x and disable 'trusted execution.' (2) Power-cycle the host if either of these BIOS/firmware settings have been changed. ![]() Intel VT-x might be disabled if it has been disabled in the BIOS/firmware settings or the host has not been power-cycled since changing this setting. This host supports Intel VT-x, but Intel VT-x is disabled. However, 64-bit operation is not possible. I've referred to following article but I'm not able to understand what more is required so that I can run a 64 bit guest O/S. I get the following error when I start the virtual machine.
